Connor McDavid has ice cold comment about Leon Draisaitl in playoffs
Everyone knows that Leon Draisaitl is a total monster in the playoffs, but nobody knows it better than his teammates. Draisaitl was a game-time decision last night after sustaining an undisclosed injury, but as Connor McDavid said, it was never really questionable if he would play.
Not only did Draisaitl play, he delivered one of his most memorable playoff games with a goal and three assists in the Oilers win. After the game, Connor McDavid had an ice cold quote about Draisaitl, asking if there was ever a question that Draisaitl would battle through injury to play.
He's a great player. The best player in the world, a lot of nights. Tonight was one of those nights, he was great . . . Was there ever a question? I mean, you guys know him.
-Connor McDavid
Draisaitl's performance last night was reminiscent of his incredible year in 2022, where he battled through a high ankle sprain. Clearly in discomfort and practically barely able to skate, Draisaitl recorded an incredible 32 points in 16 games with an especially dominant series against Calgary. Now missing practices and being considered a game time decision, Leon is clearly hiding an injury after taking a cross check to the back from Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers.
Connor McDavid credits Leon Draisaitl and the entire Oilers roster for win over Canucks
Last night's win was led by the Oilers incredible superstar players, but it was an entire team effort that wore down the surprisingly good Vancouver Canucks team. McDavid also denied any claim that he's carrying the team, insisting everyone in the room is part of the wins.
This Oilers team is much deeper than we've ever seen before, and the group knows they're never out of a game - just like they fought to pull their season from last place, they know they can beat anyone. McDavid, Draisaitl, and the entire Oilers team have their sights set on the ultimate goal of a Stanley Cup.
