Drake curse continues with a massive bet on the Stanley Cup Final winner
Earlier today, the popular Canadian musician Drake announced a massive bet on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup Finals.
Drake's bet $500,000 on the Oilers to win the Cup Final for a final payout just above $1,000,000. Unfortunately for the Oilers, Drake has an abysmal gambling record, so bad that his bets are known as 'the Drake Curse.'
The Drake Curse originates from his days as an ambassador for the Toronto Raptors, repeatedly placing massive wagers on them only to lose for five straight seasons. In addition, Drake has placed some million dollar wagers on UFC fights, most of which have lost big time.
Not only will the Oilers now be going up the Drake Curse and the
Corey Perry curse, they'll be trying to end the Canadian Stanley Cup Drought of 31 years. Since the Montreal Canadiens of 1993, no Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup.
The Oilers have just touched down today in Fort Lauderdale readying to take on the Panthers in game one on Saturday night. Being the only team from Canada with 22 Canadian players on the roster, most of Canada may be cheering for the Oilers - for their players and to end the Canadian Cup Drought.
