According to reports, the Ducks will use a modernized version of the Mighty Ducks logo with their current orange-based colours, and the Kings will go back to the Gretzky-era logo while still keeping the crown.
Icethetics, the Seattle-based website breaking the story, has also said that both jerseys will be revealed at the upcoming NHL Draft.
These two teams were both long overdue for an update to their jerseys and logos, particularly the Anaheim Ducks. Both teams aimed for a sleek and simplistic logo, but more and more, fans are drawn to the character and design of vintage styles. Both the Ducks and Kings had fantastic vintage jerseys, and it's great to see the teams lean back into them.
The next NHL season will be the first that Fanatics takes over the production of jerseys, which is causing some concern among hockey fans. Fanatics has a reputation of being extremely cheap, prone to glaring mistakes, and poor designs overall. Their officially MLB jerseys this year have been heavily criticized for looking and wearing like a knock-off jersey.
Maybe Fanatics has taken some licks and will increase quality for the NHL - but that's just a hope. Fanatics will have a great opportunity for success with two popular jerseys in the Mighty Ducks and vintage Kings, so we'll see how they pan out upon reveal at the NHL draft.
