Button felt that Evan Bouchard should be named on the Four Nations face off Canada squad as he would have a familiarity with Connor McDavid and has his famous Bouch Bomb shot from the point which would help Canada during this tournament.
It's quite surprising that button has such a strong opinion in favor of Bouchard as many Oilers fans have not seen that too often from Button. The 61-year-old TSN analyst, was the vice president and general manager of the Flames in 2000.
He remained in the position until 2002 2003 when the flames chose not to renew his contract in which they transferred Darryl Sutter to the GM job.
Bouchard's game along with the Oilers have been picking up over the past several days to weeks as the 25-year-old defender has played 27 games, scored six goals with 14 assists for 20 points and that's a + 4 with 23 minutes and 45 seconds of average ice time.
Bouchard is currently in a contract here which many feel he would have more urgency in his game, but it appears that he is finding a way to put points on the board as through the last five games, he's put 5 assists.
Of course, Bouchard was not announced on to the roster as team Canada chose to go a different way. Many argued other pundits argued in his favor after the announcement was made as they felt Bouchard would be a better choice then some of the other options that were chosen.
The Four Nations faceoff will take place in February 2025 and will feature games from Canada, the United States, Finland and Sweden. The games will take place in Montreal QC and in Boston MA.
It remains to be seen from now until then if any injuries were to creep in and whether other players could be chosen including Bouchard.
