Despite only having 4 points in 12 games, Holloway has looked amazing when he's been out there. This year he has been all over the ice engaged in play and looks great for a young guy. He isn't scared to sacrifice his body, which is exactly what you want to see in playoffs.
Despite not being given much ice time, he makes the ice time he is given worth it. He sits at second on the team in goals and hits per 60 minutes played and leads the team in blocks per 60. These stats are amazing to see from a young guy, since these are the kinds of stats that matter during the playoffs. If he can put up these kinds of numbers in the highest pressure time of the year, it should be a great sign of things to come for the kid next year.
On top of those great stats, he scored that amazing goal in game 6 looked very McDavid-esque. If he can hone these talents and utilize his speed and shot more, he could become a very productive goal scorer in a full year in the NHL.
A guy like Holloway could be exactly what the Oilers are looking for, a productive middle 6 scoring winger. If the Oilers can fill that role from within the team and at the small cap hit that he will take up next season, who knows how good they could look next season.
