During a heated debate on the OilersNation podcast, both hosts were trying to discuss that Auston Matthews is a better regular season player and Leon Draisaitl is a better playoff player. Both hosts decided to bring in NHL insider and CEO of thedailyfaceoff.com Frank Seravalli to give his take on this discussion.

Seravalli was quick to point out that he would build his team around the best playoff performing player since they would elevate the team when it mattered the most. He went further to discuss another player who is Matthews teammate Mitch Marner in how he could get 95 points a season but not move the needle when it comes to the playoffs and the Leafs hopes.

Even though Matthews has been away for two games during this playoff, the evidence is stark.

Draisaitl has played 54 games in the postseason and has amassed a record of 36 goals and 51 assists for 87 points and is a + 12.

Matthews on the other hand, has played the same number of games as Draisaitl but has scored 23 goals with 24 assists for 47 points and is a plus 1.

The evidence is clear, that Draisaitl is by far a better playoff performer then Matthews currently and only time will tell on whether he can turn things around and become the elite player he is when it matters the most.
