McDavid makes insane video-game like play for best assist of his career
The Oilers had an odd matchup last night against the Detroit Red Wings. Through the first two periods the game was tied 3-3 and the Oilers clearly weren't at their best, but the team came flying out in the third period and laid a beating on the Wings, with a final score of 8-4. Connor McDavid was instrumental especially in the third period, registering six assists on the night and potentially the best one of his career.
To score the touchdown goal for the Oilers, McDavid entered the offensive zone and pulled off a full speed spinorama move to shake a defender, then while falling to the ice, set up Evander Kane with a perfect seam pass. Kane didn't miss with his shot, and now this assist may be remembered as one of the best of McDavid's career.
With McDavid's six-assist night, he moved past the 600 mark on his career, becoming the fourth fastest player in history to record 600 assists behind only Gretzky, Lemieux, and Orr. The next big milestone for McDavid will be his 1000th point, which could possibly even come this year. With 927 points now in his career, and 77 points in 47 games this year, it could even remotely be possible that he reaches the milestone this season. 1000 for McDavid watch is officially on, especially if he has more six point games.
