Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane has missed the entirety of this season so far, but today, Coach Knoblauch's comments seemed to indicate his recovery is on pace with the best case scenario.

Evander Kane underwent a complex corrective surgery just before the beginning of the regular season this year, and was ruled out indefinitely.

At practice today, Knoblauch said that it's still going to be a while until Kane returns, but there could be more news coming in about a month - perhaps returning to on-ice activities.

»He's gonna be a while You're not going to see or hear anything from him for at least a month.»

Knoblauch continued to say that Kane is coming into the arena several times a week for treatment and rehab after his surgery.

Evander Kane One Month Away From Critical Injury Evaluation

When news broke of Kane's complex surgery, it seemed to be a possibility that the Oilers forward could miss the entirety season recovering.

However, the latest reports indicate that Kane is on pace to return in early 2025. The new year is only a month away now, and that's when Knoblauch expects some news could break with Kane.

It's still very uncertain when Kane will return to the lineup, but it at least seems the Oilers will begin evaluating his eligibility to return to the ice in a month, which is fantastic news.

The Oilers dearly miss Evander Kane's toughness and secondary scoring in the bottom six. Although he played through injury all of last season, Kane led the Oilers in hits and scored an impressive total of 24 goals.

His return could prompt some changes for the Oilers too, who seem overly stacked with veteran talent on the wings now. Insider Bob Stauffer has hinted a forward trade could occur when Kane returns.

For now, this is positive news for Oilers fans that Kane is still around the team, receiving treatment, and coming up toward the end of his timeline. Kane surely wants to get back in the lineup, and back to the Cup Final.
