The Oilers moved defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer for Perreault in a low cost, no risk trade to help the Oilers get younger, help their depth and improve secondary scoring.
Originally a member of the Sarnia Sting, the 22-year-old was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, in the first round, 27th overall. He spent time with the San Diego Gulls playing 161 games and accumulating 32 goals for 91 points.
He was then moved to the Montreal Canadiens on March 7th in exchange for Jan Mysak. Eliteprospects gives him a good rating on how he has one of the best shots and is considered a pure sniper.
He's part of the same Perreault family as his brother Gabe was a 1st round pick by the New York Rangers and his father is Yanic Perreault a former long time NHLer.
His best season thus far was in 2021-22 when he scored 14 goals with 23 assists for 37 points with 62 penalty minutes.
Perreault To Report To Bakersfield
He will be reporting to the Bakersfield Condors and will add to their depth alongside Matt Savoie, Noah Philp and Seth Griffith.
The fanbase has also given their thoughts on this trade, and many feel the same as it's a low-risk trade which could be beneficial for the Oilers. In the end, this will give Kris Knoblauch and his coaching staff another option in the farm to try and perhaps making the team sooner than later.
