Arvidsson has missed the Oilers last 10 games with an undisclosed injury after initially being listed as day to day, causing significant concern among fans.
For now, Knoblauch's comments indicate that Arvidsson is finally ramping up to get back in the lineup.
The Edmonton Oilers play three games this week, and Arvidsson is still likely to miss all three of them if he only resumes practicing this week.
After missing close to a month with this injury, he may need some time with the team to get back up to speed. His return could be aimed for December 16th against the Florida Panthers.
Arvidsson was arguably the Oilers biggest offseason addition, but things haven't panned out positively in his early tenure with the team.
In 16 games, Arvidsson has only 2 goals and 5 points while mostly playing alongside Leon Draisaitl. For a player who's been a proven offensive producer through his career, his scoring pace of 10 goals on the season is a big disappointment.
Also through his career, Arvidsson has been a player repeatedly affected by injuries. Only three times in his 11 year career has he played more than 66 games.
Still, Arvidsson is a quality player that the Oilers and fans shouldn't give up on yet. It's possible that this injury was a problem that had been bothering him for a while, and this time off could be beneficial for his game. When he was in the lineup, he played fine, but just couldn't convert much.
Team Sweden selected Arvidsson for the upcoming 4 National Faceoff as well, which speaks to the belief in him as a high-end talent.
Hopefully when Arvidsson is able to return to the lineup, he'll get back to his career normal levels of scoring - or possibly surpass them with a boost from Leon Draisaitl.
More details and analysis to come.
