A few days ago at the all-star game, Cale Makar was interviewed about the ongoing 2018 Canadian World Juniors Team scandal. Makar was part of that team, but obviously not one of the five players who were asked to surrender themselves to London Police and face charges. In the interview, Makar made an awful comment.

It's tough. I've been told not to comment on that ongoing investigation. I've been straightforward from the start. I wasn't there. It was a very fortunate bounce to not obviously be a part of something like that.

Makar's under fire for his really bizarre comment about the alleged incident, talking about it almost using hockey vernacular. Makar said it was a «fortunate bounce» not to be a part of the incident.

Many fans are calling Makar's quote out for not treating the incident with the respect and care it deserves. To make a comment implying he was lucky to not be there, whether that's just built into his brain as hockey slang or not, looks like a horrible lack of understanding and empathy from Makar.

While Makar is likely disgusted and appalled by these allegations like everyone is, it doesn't show in this careless comment. It's an awful look from Makar.
