The Edmonton Oilers must wait for the arbitration process to conclude before finalizing contracts for restricted free agents Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard.

According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, McLeod's arbitration will determine the Oilers' available cap space for Bouchard's deal.

Ryan McLeod officially filed an appeal for salary arbitration to the NHL, meaning he believes Ken Holland could not offer him a fair contract. Now the NHL will hold a meeting to determine if it is true or not, and what a fair contract would be.

Although Bouchard doesn't have arbitration rights, the team intends to secure a significant bridge contract for him. Arbitration hearings will take place from July 20 to August 4. Bouchard's strong performance, particularly during the playoffs, and increased ice time have made him a valuable asset for the Oilers.
