Maple leafs sports owes up to $1M plus in serious debt
Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), the prominent corporation that owns various sports teams in Toronto, including the Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Toronto FC, has found itself labeled as a tax debtor.
Despite its stature, MLSE owes $1.18 million in back taxes from 2019.
Negotiations between MLSE and the city of Toronto are underway to resolve the issue, which centers around BMO Field, located on city-owned property.
While this dispute persists, it will not affect the hockey operations of the Maple Leafs as they comply with the salary cap.
