Edmonton Oilers Prospect and 3 Others Are Reportedly Being Investigated By Local Police
The Western Hockey League announced that four players from one specific teams, the Moose Jaw Warriors, had been suspended until further notice. No details have been given on the suspensions, but the league did release a statement.
"The Western Hockey League announced today that four Moose Jaw Warriors players Connor Ungar, Max Wanner, Lynden Lakovic, and Marek Howell have been suspended indefinitely pending an investigation into possible violations of team rules and the WHL Standard of Conduct policies," wrote the league in a statement on Saturday. Edmonton Oilers fans chimed in as it involved their 7th round pick of the 2021 NHL entry draft by the name of Maximus Wanner, a defensemen for the Moose Jaw Warriors. It is not too often you see "indefinite" suspensions, this matter seems to be pretty serious and this may take a toll on if the Oilers prospect will ever be allowed to see the NHL ever again depending on the severity.
Details are not clear, but it has now escalated into the hands of the Moose Jaw Police who have stated they are made aware of what is taking place.
Although the details surrounding this story are still hazy, it appears as though the Moose Jaw Police may now be involved in this matter. The Athletic's Katie Strang was able to confirm through a Moose Jaw Police spokesperson that they "have been made aware" of a situation involving the players.
They refused to comment due not "not being able to", and it very likely means due to a law enforcement investigation underway.
Regarding the suspension of four players from the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, Moose Jaw Police spokesperson confirms they "have been made aware" of a situation involving players with the team but cannot comment further at this time.
