Edmonton Oilers Reporter Proposes a Blockbuster Trade Scenario in Goal For The Edmonton Oilers
In a recent interview on The Jeff Marek Show, Matt Marchese discusses the Winnipeg Jets' plans for their key players, including Nik Ehlers and Connor Hellebuyck, as they enter a transformative off-season.
The Edmonton Oilers faced inconsistency in goaltending, with Stuart Skinner stepping up but faltering in the playoffs. A proposed scenario by Oilers insider Jonathan Willis suggests buying out Jack Campbell and trading for Connor Hellebuyck from the Jets.
(The exit route on Campbell - should it be required - is more likely a retained salary trade at some point later on. It's a front-loaded deal, which makes it easier to move and also reduces the value of a buyout in its last two seasons.)
However, the astronomical price and competing suitors make it unlikely. It is more probable for the Oilers to stick with Campbell for now and explore future retained salary trades.
