Former Oiler First-Rounder Might Find a New Home with the Rangers?
The story of Jesse Puljujärvi's time with the Oilers will go down in history as a failure. Whether it was the player not fully committing to the system and not striving to improve on his own, or the organization's failure to recognize his struggles in various areas, remains to be seen.
However, people move on, and the Oilers found him a new home with the Carolina Hurricanes before the NHL deadline last year. Unfortunately, Puljujärvi's fresh start in Carolina did not go as planned. His issues seemed to follow him to Raleigh, and he struggled to find his footing, failing to become the player everyone had hoped for.
Fast forward to the summer of 2023, and it appears that one team may be considering signing him at a very low cost. Larry Brooks of the New York Post mentioned that the New York Rangers could potentially be interested in Puljujärvi if nothing happens after September.
Brooks suggests that the Rangers might attempt to sign him for $1,000,000 for one year and attempt to revitalize his career in the Big Apple. While it is uncertain whether Puljujärvi will be able to recover and become a better player, a team like the Rangers might take a chance on him and see if they can help him transform into a serviceable forward.
