Goaltender Arrested After Driving Into House: Refusing to Take Breathalyzer Test
Jared Picklyk, the 20-year-old goalie of the Humboldt Broncos, has been suspended following his recent arrest. The Saskatchewan RCMP reported that Picklyk was taken into custody at 1:25 AM on Saturday, just a few hours after the Broncos eliminated the Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL playoffs. According to reports, Picklyk drove off the road and crashed into a house. He was arrested for refusing to comply with police and for refusing to take an alcohol breath screening test.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash, and the RCMP is still investigating the incident. It remains unclear how long Picklyk's suspension will last, but given that this is his last season of eligibility to play junior, it is likely that his junior career is over. While Picklyk is currently undrafted in the NHL, this incident is likely to significantly impact his chances of playing in the league.
