If Kyle Dubas Leaves the Maple Leafs, Will Auston Matthews Follow?
There has been a lot of noise the past few days about Kyle Dubas, with the organization's lack of success. Kyle Dubas, himself says he understands based on the lack of playoff success the organization has had in recent years, that he may be on the way out, but there's debate about how much of a risk it might be to let Kyle Dubas walk.
One of those concerns is the Maple Leafs elite core, in Austin Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and a few others.
Specifically, Auston Matthews, who speaks very highly of Kyle Dubas. So, it begs the question if Kyle Dubas is out, does Auston Matthews follow.
The main reason Auston Matthews, is staying put in Toronto, seems to be because of Kyle Dubas, and the relationship the two have.
Auston Matthews, also said, «my intention is to be here.» When asked about his long term future with the Leafs.
Many Leafs fans think Austin Matthews, is just playing the nice guy, and will wait till his contract is up to move on from the team. Or the move could come sooner, depending on if Kyle Dubas, moves out of Toronto this summer.
There are a lot of questions surrounding the Leafs this off-season. Even though the Leafs made it to the second round this year, they fell extremely short against the Florida Panthers, only winning one game and being walked all over in five games. So, the first series win since 2004, basically went to waste.
