Throughout the years, there has always been a thought that former Maple Leafs draft choice and Senators forward Connor Brown would join the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid. McDavid and Brown played on the Erie Otters during Mcdavid's time with the team. In 2013-2014 both players were on the same line where Brown scored 45 goals with 83 assists for 128 points.

The Maple Leafs drafted Brown where he had a modest career with the team and spent two seasons with the Marlies and four seasons with Maple Leafs. During Kyle Dubas's tenure, he decided to move on from Brown which sent him to the Ottawa Senators in a multiplayer swap as he was not receiving the playing time he needed or deserved and felt he needed a change of scenery.

Oilers alert tweeted that if he was a betting man, Brown would be joining the Oilers this season as the team is currently looking at remaking their bottom 6. In his last contract with the Washington Capitals, Brown was paid $10 million over three years giving him a cap hit of 3.6 million.

With the injuries he has suffered recently that his play has slowed, the Oilers could pick him up for a much lower salary he could be reunited with his former linemate.
