In last night's Bakersfield Condors game against the Texas Stars, Campbell made an error that's a consistent problem for him. Just over 30 seconds into the game, the Texas Stars scored on their first shot, and Campbell was visibly deflated in the crease.
In spite of that classically terrible start to the game, Campbell went on to lead the Condors to a 6-4 win, and is now expected to be called up this week. However, this kind of mistake begs the question of whether that's the right move for the Oilers' success.
Campbell went on to stop 31 out of 35 shots last night, good enough for only an .886 save percentage. Arguably, he was bailed out by his team scoring six goals, which has been a common theme in his time with the Oilers. Over the 7 games of this AHL stint, Campbell has a 3-4 record with a 3.28 GAA and .893 save percentage. Hopefully he's revitalized upon his return to the NHL, and can put up better numbers there - the Oilers need it to compete for a playoff spot.
