The Edmonton Oilers lucked out with landing No. 3 overall for the 2014 draft, this would lead to a series of events where the Oilers would land high picks for multiple years.

This of course setting up the Edmonton Oilers for years to come, starting with a young German player named Leon Draisaitl.

Leon Draisaitl was passed on by the Florida Panthers, who landed Aaron Ekblad, who was rightfully the projected No. 1 of his draft class.

Those two new Florida Panthers were expected to be some of the best talent in the league, in their respected positions. Which now looks to hold some regret for the franchise, all though nobody could have known at the time. As, Leon Draisaitl (EDM), David Pastrnak (BOS), and Brayden Point (TBL) were all taken after the Panthers defensman and forward.

As per Lights Out Hockey on Twitter, The Oilers' German is ranked 1st NHL point leaders drafted in 2014. As he has turned into quite the star, racking up 744 points in 638 games played. Sam Reinhart is ranked fourth with 444 points in 614 games, which is quite the career but when compared to the three players above him it's minuscule. As for Brayden Point (3rd) and David Pastrnak (2nd), there is a fair gap between the two. Brayden Point has accumulated 463 points and David Pastrnak has 617.

Leon Draisaitl trumps all of them though, as he would be the best player for any team other than the Edmonton Oilers. Unfortunately Connor McDavid, overshadows Draisaitl's success.
