When the Maple Leafs organization realized that the John Ferguson Jr era was not working and they had to make a change. MLSE decided to reach out to Brian Burke who was the general manager of the Anaheim Ducks. Burkie resigned as GM and signed on with the Maple Leafs for five seasons.

One of his first moves as general manager was signing unrestricted free agent and college player Tyler Bozak. He played for the University of Denver and was pegged a third-line centre. Since the Maple Leafs were so thin up the middle after Mats Sundin left the organization, Burke decided to make him a first-line centre.

That caught the attention of a much younger upcoming superstar Connor McDavid. McDavid, a Richmond Hill native which is a suburb of Toronto, felt that he ranked himself alongside Tyler Bozak when they asked just before his draft in 2015.

Though the comparison seems ridiculous considering the difference between the two players, one who has been known for his defensive liabilities and meagre point production even when he was the first-line centre for the Maple Leafs to the super player that McDavid is and all his statistics have shown since he has arrived in the NHL.

I suspect Bozak, it's something to be humbled by that this player felt he was comparable to him. However, McDavid is on a mission to acquire something that Bozak already has which happens to be a Stanley Cup.
