Marc-Andre Fleury has hilarious response to teammate calling him old
At 39 years old and likely in the final season on his career, Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the most beloved goalies around the league. Now even with a small market team in the Minnesota Wild, Fleury still makes headlines for his performance and personality across the league. Today, he's in the news for one of his classic jokes.
When Wild teammate Brandon Duhaime was reportedly chirping Fleury for being old, Fleury grabbed a walking cane in place of his goalie stick and headed out for practice. The video below shows Fleury in net taking shots while holding the cane.
It's a hilarious visual to see the legendary goalie playing with a cane, and great to see him still have the humour to engage in little jokes like this as such a veteran in the league. It's a testament to the great person Marc-Andre Fleury is.
This season however, his play has taken a turn for the worse. In 13 games this season, Fleury has a 6-5-2 record, posting a 3.16 GAA and .892 save percentage. Despite the down season, if the Minnesota Wild find themselves out of a playoff spot near the trade deadline, the team will likely look to see if there's suitors in a trade. Currently, a few contending teams are in search of a goaltender, and Fleury brings a vast amount of talent and experience in the crease. Owed just $3.5M for the rest of this season, Fleury's contract is cheap enough to add flexibility to a potential trade.
