Connor Bedard scores incredible overtime winning goal
When the NHL made the move to begin 3-on-3 overtime, the hope was that it would provide more action and more room for faster, more skilled plays. Fortunately for hockey fans, that's a great setup for Connor Bedard to take over a game.
Last night's Blackhawks game against the Winnipeg Jets was tied at 1-1 heading into overtime, and Bedard already scored the first goal for Chicago that night. In overtime, Bedard clearly knew that he had to step up if his team was going to have a chance to win. From his own defensive zone, Bedard gathered speed and went for an end-to-end solo effort before sniping an incredible shot past a world-class goalie in Connor Hellebuyck.
From another angle at ice level, Bedard's ridiculous speed and deceptive shot are on full display.
Right now, Bedard is the only offensive talent on the Blackhawks, and he's single handedly improved the team greatly from where they were last season - but he's still incredibly raw in his development, and he will only improve in the future. Hopefully, the Blackhawks can surround Bedard with more high end talent so his full potential can be unlocked.
