According to Russo's report, the investigation has already been completed, and Guerin was found not to have committed a fireable offence. The team's HR department, in concert with the outside law firm, presented the findings of the investigation to the Wild's ownership group, who made the call to retain Guerin.
The employee who made the allegation against Guerin was the Wild's director of team operations and player relations, Andrew Heydt. After these allegations and the investigation, Heydt has been absent from the team and his day-to-day activities.
This news comes just days after the Wild's assistant GM, Chris O'Hearn, decided to mutually part ways with the team. This move came to the surprise of many, as O'Hearn was considered Guerin's right hand in the organization.
Clearly, the Minnesota Wild's executive level is in significant turmoil at the moment. At a critical moment in their roster construction, with massive cap penalties due to their recent buyouts, organizational stability would be an asset - and its deterioration would be costly. Hopefully, the Wild can sort these issues out, and out these distractions aside as they try to compete for a playoff spot.
