Mitch Marner and Michael Bunting Respond to Evander Kane Calling Them Out
Things were looking good for the Oilers in their previous game against the Maple Leafs, as they had a 3-1 lead in the second period, but late into the second period the Leafs would rally to score 4 unanswered goals in just under 6 minutes.
Heading into the third period things would get pretty heated as Kane and Bunting would get into a wrestling match. There was a lot of chirping between the two throughout the game which eventually would lead to this..
After the game Kane had this to say about Bunting.
»He likes to dive and embellish. You want to get the out of the game, but you prevent the guys from consequences of those actions. Fighting is a great deterrent for those types of players and actions. It prevents guys from having to answer the bell like, he's a perfect example of that.»
Buntings respond to it was..
»I don't really care to be honest. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Yeah, just made a few comments, but I'm not really the type to bring it to the media. So I'm just going to leave it at that.»
Mitch Marner also had something to say on the altercation:
»I think Bunts did a good job of keeping his cool, but I don't know what you want him to do at the end of that. He kept his cool all the way to the very end, and I think eventually everyone is going to snap on that kind of thing.»
At the end of the day the Oilers would take a tough lose in regulation getting no points, but they will look to bounce back on Tuesday against the Senators who have been hot as of late.
