BREAKING - John Tavares Receives Punishment From The NHL Player Safety After Dangerous Play vs Oilers
The Maple Leafs handed a rough 7-4 to the Edmonton Oilers last night and the game had a very big playoff type-of feel to it.
This included John Tavares and Oilers defensemen Vincent Desharnais battling it out all game, but things escalated further in the third period of play whenever the Maple Leafs had the lead.
Tavares took his angers out on Desharnais' wrist, delivering a huge whack on it, right in the soft spot.
For some odd reason the referee sent both players off to the penalty box, but the true side of things were shown this morning when the NHL player safety committee would announce that they have handed out a punishment to Tavares.
Toronto's John Tavares has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Slashing Edmonton's Vincent Desharnais.
Is this the proper punishment?
