The 2022-2023 season for the Edmonton Oilers will certainly go down in history as one with great success on an individual basis and the season with the big question mark as to how they will fare in the playoffs. Through 66 games the Oilers have won 36 games in have last 22 and had eight overtime losses for a total of 80 points. They hold a + 34 in goal differential and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.

Barring any disaster, the Oilers should coast into the playoffs and begin their March toward the Stanley Cup. This has led to a discussion as to whether the Oilers have a chance at the cup, in which ESPN pundit Greg Wyshynski feels the Oilers are going to win the 2023 Stanley Cup.

Even though small, there is a path for the Oilers to make it to the final round as the Western Conference has essentially emptied all of its talents to the East.

There are only a few teams ahead of the Oilers that could pose a threat and with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl carrying the load with their improved defence core and lethal power play their chances look good.

Time will tell if the Oilers can take advantage of this but the possibility is there.
