Oiler Calls it a Career For Saddened Reasoning
The Edmonton Oilers released Brandon Sutter from his PTO. Despite a two-year hiatus, both Sutter and Oilers' management hoped for a strong comeback.
However, Sutter called a meeting with GM Ken Holland, coach Jay Woodcroft, and trainer TD Forss, citing health concerns as he decided to end his career.
This unexpected retirement came as a surprise after Sutter was vying for a 4th line center spot during his PTO.
Brandon Sutter called a meeting Sunday in Seattle with Oilers GM Ken Holland, head coach Jay Woodcroft and trainer TD Forss, to tell them he could not go on with his PTO.
Holland: "He had some health concerns and he just felt that he was going to end his career."

Hockey Insider Mark Spector revealed the health-related reasons behind Sutter's decision.
