As the Edmonton Oilers battle with the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken for top spot in the Pacific Division, the Oilers are looking to improve their chances heading into the new year.
The Oilers are still without star forward Evander Kane so a trade could happen sooner rather then later. One player the Oilers appear to have interest in getting is former Calgary Flames Center Sean Monahan.
The 28 year old was acquired this off-season by the Montreal Canadiens after a season ending injury last season in Calgary. Monahan looks rejuvenated in Montreal scoring 6 goals and 17 assists in 25 games this season. Monahan is in the final year of his current contract and is a pending ufa this summer.
With the Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes in a rebuild Monahan will most likely be traded on or before the NHL's trade deadline. However the Oilers aren't the only ones interested in Monahan, as it's been reported the Dallas Stars also have shown interest in Monahan's services heading into the playoffs.
