Bedard was very patient as he closed in on Swiss goalie Leonardo Geonni and fired the puck right between his legs to put the team up 1-0 in the shootout. It was a back-and-forth shootout but Canada was on the wrong side of the score as the Swiss won 2-1 and the game 3-2.
Bedard has had uneven tournament as his head coach has not been consistent with his handling of Bedard and has hurt his confidence. After a great start and scoring three goals in the first three games, Bedard has had long stretches of poor play and went goalless for several games in a row.
Canada will now be in the bronze game and this will take place tomorrow May 26th.
It will mark a disappointment for Canada as many felt this team was capable to go to the gold medal game.
Bedard will turn his attention to the offseason and his ongoing strength training and preparation for September training camp. As he waits to know if he won the Calder Trophy, Bedard will take in his last worlds game and hope to have a medal around his neck.
