Oilers star forward Evander Kane was not present at practice today as he's in the process of going through bankruptcy court in San Jose. Head coach Jay Woodcroft told the media that he may miss the Oilers' next game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and potentially a lot more games as well as the courts end date is February 2nd.

The 31-year-old forward will have his bankruptcy case trial over the next two weeks beginning on January 23rd and will finish on February 2nd. Kane has missed much of the season due to a horrific wrist injury that happened earlier on and has just returned recently to the lineup.

In his past three games since his return, he has registered no points and is a 5. it will certainly take some time for him to regain the form that he lost after he was on injured reserve.

On January 19th, the Oilers met for a rematch against the Tampa Bay Lightning where Patrick maroon who was responsible for Kane's injury met up with him during warmup at center ice to have a chat.

My guess would be he wanted to clear the air with Kane and make sure that he was doing well.
