Retired Oilers Legend Gets Knocked Out Cold During Mens League Game - Retires From Hockey
After NHL careers are over, many NHL players join senior leagues, but depending on how well-known they are, some may become targets.
Ryan Smyth, a former NHL star, had a remarkable 20-year NHL career. He spent 90% of that time with the Oilers, who then became part of the Avalanche and LA Kings organizations, before being returned to the Oilers to complete his career in the blue and orange.
Ryan ** A few years ago** joined a men's AAA league and got into a filthy accident that caused him to officially retire from hockey. You can watch the collision here.
Smyth seemed to have been knocked out cold by the filthy collision and needed trainers to assist him off the ice. A teammate stepped forward to defend him. This is a rather depressing way to end the game of hockey for Smyth permanently.
