Becoming a new parent is the most exciting and life-changing event in anyone's life. A little over a year and a half ago, I myself became a father for the first time, and it certainly puts things in perspective in terms of knowing that it's no longer just about yourself anymore.
Your priorities, the way you look at things, and knowing that you are responsible for someone else for the rest of your days can be quite eye-opening.
But it's been a blast, and I'm enjoying every single moment. The Oilers also had numerous babies born during this summer, including Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who became a first-time dad in August. During his interview, he explained how becoming a new father changed him and ways to adjust to the different lifestyle that comes with it.
Nuge, Brown, Skinner became fathers this year, along with Ekholm, who had his third child, and Nurse, who had his second. As Nuge explained, you have to mature rather rapidly when you realize that your life has just changed.
It's highly possible that this could change this team for the better, as their responsibility levels have just risen through the roof.
The fans and the organization will need to see if this will change the team for the better and hopefully push them to aim for a 6th Stanley Cup.
