The Oilers begin their season on the road vs. Vancouver Oct 11th. The past 4 years have been at home vs. Vancouver.

In the 1st quarter of the season the have 11 games on the road and 9 at home. They don't have any back to back games which is a good thing. Ten games against playoff teams and ten against non-playoff teams.

In the 2nd quarter they have 11 at home and 10 on the road. They have 2 sets of back to backs, both on the road. They also have five days off between games twice. Fans will enjoy a six game home-stand from Dec 6th to the 16th, followed by 6 on the road. There is also one afternoon game in New Jersey on the slate.

The 3rd quarter is a good balance of 10 home and 10 road games. They get 3 sets of back to backs, one being a Saturday afternoon game in Seattle. They have a Family Day matinee in Arizona, a home afternoon game vs. Nashville and 2 afternoon games at Dallas and Seattle.

The roughest part of the season

The 4th quarter of the season gives them 10 road games and 11 at home. Unfortunately they play 5 sets of back to backs, three of those in their final 8 games of the season. They face 13 non playoff teams and 8 vs. playoff teams. They have one afternoon game in Buffalo and one afternoon game at home vs. Anaheim. They have a grueling stretch of 21 games in 43 days, and catch their opponents on the second half of back to backs 10 times, 8 of those 10 are at home in Edmonton.

The Oilers play 21 times on Saturdays so plenty on Hockey Night In Canada games. This is the road they have to take before getting to the playoffs. They will probably rest players during the final few games of the year so they are in top shape on their quest for the Cup.
