While some of the names wont come as a shock to anybody - like the Bedard's, Fantilli's, Zellweger's and Wright's of the world.
But there is one name, that not many thought they would see on the roster and there are three formidable prospects who were predicted by most to make it over him.
In place of Carson Lambos, Jordan Dumais and Owen Beck - Edmonton Oilers 2022 32nd overall selection Reid Schaefer cracked the Canadian roster ahead of the tournament set to commence on boxing day.
It seems the Canadian roster builders opted for some size to insulate their skilled forward core and provide some muscle along the boards and a net front presence on the powerplay.
Schaefer stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 219-pounds, making him a load to handle down low and in the trenches.
The anticipation was really eating at Schaefer ahead of the decision whether he had been cut or was selected to represent the Canadian squad.
According to Scott Wheeler's official twitter here's what Colton Dach and Schaefer had to say. Apparently the latter was shaking in anticipation.
Schaefer's 2022-23 campaign has seen the big left winger off to a rampant start - he has eclipsed over point-per-game with 27 points (15 goals and 12 assists) through 22 WHL games for the Seattle Thunderbirds.
For Canada and Schaefer's sake the hope is that the trend continues and he provides his squad with the ever crucial power forward to win those one-on-one battles in the corners and behind the net.
