The NHL Has Released an Official Statement on Philadelphia Flyers Defensemen Ivan Provorov
You undoubtedly already heard about the current controversy with Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov, who chose not to wear the Flyers pride jerseys the other night, unless you've been living under a rock.
In reaction to the uproar that Provorov's decision has generated around the NHL, with teams, players, and others speaking out: the NHL has now released a statement:
"Hockey is for Everyone is the umbrella initiative under which
the League encourages Clubs to celebrate the diversity that
exists in their respective markets, and to work to achieve
more welcoming and inclusive environments for all fans.
Clubs decide whom to celebrate, when and how with
League counsel and support. Players are free to decide
which initiatives to support, and we continue to encourage
their voices and perspectives on social and cultural issues."
