Third member of Team Canada leaves their team while under investigation
Moments ago, more news began unfolding from the ongoing situation involving the 2018 World Juniors team and the investigation from police in London, Ontario.
This morning, five players from the World Juniors team were asked to surrender themselves to London police. This week, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames and Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers took leaves of absences. Now, forward Alex Formenton is leaving his team in Switzerland, HC Ambri Piotta.
Same as Hart and Dube, Formenton is said to be taking this leave for personal reasons at this time. Formenton most recently played in the NHL in the 2021-22 season with the Ottawa Senators, and was a second round draft pick by the team in 2017.
