One player that may be on the move is goaltender Jack Campbell, whom the team had hoped would become their long-term starter. However, Campbell has struggled this season, posting a 3.57 goals-against average and a .882 save percentage. As a result, the Oilers may need to sweeten the deal in any trade involving Campbell.
Another player that could potentially be moved is winger Kailer Yamamoto. Despite his $3.1 million cap hit, Yamamoto has had trouble establishing himself as a top-six forward and may benefit from a change of scenery. He has recorded 10 goals and 10 assists in 47 games this season.
On the defensive side, Brett Kulak may be a trade candidate due to the Oilers' recent acquisition of Mattias Ekholm, which has created a logjam on the left side of the defense. However, any team that acquires Kulak would have him under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, with a $2.75 million cap hit.
