he parents of Ben Teague, a 17-year-old member of the Oakville Rangers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, who never returned home from a pre-season camp in September 2019, have filed a $1 million lawsuit against the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club and others for negligence and wrongful death. According to a report by TSN's Rick Westhead, the parents received a phone call that their son had admitted to drinking and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. Westhead tweeted about the Teagues' search for answers, linking to a @CTVW5 story.

"Greg and Susan Teague have filed a $1M negligence and wrongful death lawsuit against the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club and others.
Our @CTVW5 story on their search for answers about how their 17-year-old son Benjamin died at a team event in 2019".

The death of Ben Teague is a tragedy that no parent should have to endure, and it's essential that the Teagues get the answers they deserve. Those responsible must be held accountable for their actions, and the silence surrounding hockey culture must come to an end. Measures should be put in place to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

"Our @CTVW5 story on their search for answers about how their 17-year-old son Benjamin died at a team event in 2019," tweeted Westhead.

Creating a safe and supportive environment for youth engagement in sports and activities is crucial, and the society must ensure that they can participate without fear of harm. Hopefully, the Teagues will find the closure they need, and Ben's memory will serve as a reminder of the importance of protecting our children.
