The summer of 2023 for the Edmonton Oilers was not very eventful. General manager Ken Holland decided to trim around the edges of the team and make a few changes as the Oilers are currently in a win-now mode. With contracts that are up and coming such as Leon Draisatil the team needs to make a statement and knock on the door of the Stanley Cup finals this year.

Last season, many rumours were flying around that the Oilers were willing to part with Broberg one of their top prospect defensemen as they were looking for help to secure a playoff spot and go on a long run. Trading the top prospect defenseman sometimes doesn't make sense but putting him in front of the right team could bolster both offence and defence help in the long run.

There's a strong possibility that this will happen again as the season wears on and there are several teams that he would be a great fit for.
With new ownership about to take over the Ottawa Senators, and the team filled with numerous young players and a core that's being built for winning shortly a player like Broberg would bolster their defence core and give them another quality defenseman. I expect the senators to make some noise this year as they have brought in Vladimir Tarasenko, Joonas Korpisalo while adding Jakub Chychrun last year.

The Montreal Canadiens are another team that would look at a player like Broberg for help as they continue their rebuilding phase. Montreal and the Oilers have had a trading past with general manager Kent Hughes looking at any options to help improve his team as the Canadians have a very weak top 4 defence core. There are several players that Montreal could offer the Oilers as they continue to shed salaries and recoup more assets.

The final team that could be interested in Broberg would be the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings, are currently a team that's up and coming and will be knocking on the playoff store for several years as their younger players begin to settle into the roster. General manager Rob Blake does not seem to be shy in making deals that will help his team as he had sent Sean Durzi to the Arizona Coyotes recently. A player like Broberg would be a nice replacement for Durzi. The Kings have several good players that could be offered to the Oilers in return.

With the season about to begin, we will need to see if the Oilers are willing to part with Broberg as he currently may not fit the mould the team is forming.
