Earlier today, Andrew Cogliano formally announced his retirement from the NHL, and accepted a role within the Colorado Avalanche's front office.

Drafted 25th overall by the Oilers back in 2005, Cogliano went on to have a great career as a depth forward. He played 328 games with the Oilers, which were his most productive seasons, before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks for a second round pick in 2011. Cogliano also went on to play with the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, and won a cup with the Colorado Avalanche. Over his career, Cogliano totalled 1294 games with 190 goals and 464 points.

One of the best qualities of Cogliano's game was his consistency in his level of play, and his availability to stay in games. Over 17 seasons, Cogliano only missed 27 games - and his first two missed were due to a controversial suspension back in 2018.

For such a hard-worker and reliable NHLer, it was great to see Cogliano put the finishing touch on his career with the Avalanche's Cup win in 2022. Now joining the organization in the scouting department, he'll be set up for the next chapter of his life. Oilers fans will wish all the best for Cogs in the future!
