The beleaguered podcaster who parted ways with Sportsnet several months ago explains that the Oilers will be patient with their roster and are in no state of panic. He has a strong belief that the Oilers will turn things around as this team was in game seven of the Stanley Cup finals less than four months ago.
He also explained to host Tyler Yaremchuk that General Manager Stan Bowman and his team are looking to add more speed to the team as they are considered the oldest NHL team in average age which stands around 30 years old. He also believes that the Oilers will be shopping for a second pairing right shot defenseman which is one of the most coveted spots in any defense core.
During the offseason, the Oilers did a major reconfiguration of their roster on both offence and defence. The team has been working to find consistency as they've been hovering around the .500 mark for the first number of games. It's safe to say the Oilers will be shopping hard to find these kinds of requirements as the team needs more to help their chances.
Seeing Jeff Marek back on the airwaves is a positive sign for hockey. It was announced a few months ago that both Sportsnet and himself had to part ways due to some wrongdoings by Marek when it came to the NHL draft. After laying low, he was released yesterday that he will be returning to the podcasting world as he is set to release his new show called The Sheet which will be broadcast on The Nation Network which is owned by Daily Faceoff and set to begin in December of 2024.
