The Oilers have often had some quarrels with the media when times are tough. Now off to a rocky start this season, Leon Draisaitl had no time for a Mark Spector question today.

Spector asked a question that came in the form of a rant to Leon Draisaitl, who could only laugh off the question and agree with whatever he was saying.

SPECTOR: The team we watched back then was so committed, so detail oriented. The team we're watching now is a long ways from that. Is there a balance to, you can't play that kind of hockey in October, but you gotta get closer to it than you are right now?

DRAISAITL: Yeah. Like, you answered your own question. I don't know what you want me to say. Like, yeah.

It's a ridiculous question from Spector because it's just so obvious. The Oilers were in their best shape playing every shift for their lives in the Stanley Cup Final, and now they're beginning the season with new players, adjusting to new strategies, and playing teams that are ready to play the Oilers. It would be nearly impossible to be at that level early in the season, but of course that's what they want to get back to. Leon was right to just chuckle and agree.

The Edmonton media isn't yet totally going against the players, but this may be an early sign that frustration is starting to boil over. Now with a record of 6-7-1 after last night's meltdown loss, it's past time for the Oilers to start to string together some wins and get moving up the standings.their next game against the rival Vancouver Canucks will be a great test.
