Johnny Gaudreau's wife announces heartbreaking personal news at funeral

Due to the outpouring of grief and support from the entire hockey world, the funeral was streamed live online for fans to watch. When delivering her remarks, Meredith Gaudreau announced that she is pregnant with her third child. They would have been a family of 5.

It's absolutely heartbreaking to hear the widow announce a new pregnancy at the funeral for her husband. Given the fact that she's only 9 weeks pregnant, there could even be a possibility that Johnny didn't know. The tragedy of losing these two brothers just keeps having more of a devastating personal impact. Matthew Gaudreau's wife is pregnant too, and the hockey community has come together to create an incredible GoFundMe for their unborn son.

Plenty of NHL players that were teammates or friends of the Gaudreau's attended the proceedings today. Former Flames teammates Sean Monahan and Andrew Mangiapane were some of Johnny's pallbearers.

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver on the night of August 29th, the day before celebrating their sister's wedding. It's an unthinkable personal tragedy for the family, and it's stricken the hockey world that adored the superstar lovingly nicknamed Johnny Hockey.

The entire hockey world is continuing to grieve the loss of the Gaudreau brothers, and it will not end today with his funeral. Surely, teams across the NHL this season will find ways to honour the Gaudreau's, and the hockey community will always be thinking and praying for the family.
