Leon Draisaitl Makes a Legendary Guarantee About Connor McDavid's 1000 Point Night
Connor McDavid had a fantastic 4 point performance last night to bring his career total to 999 points, and after the game, Leon Draisaitl guaranteed it will happen tomorrow.
The Oilers will take on the Nashville Predators tomorrow night at home, and the game after, they'll be on the road to face the Toronto Maple Leafs. The fans want to see McDavid hit the 1000 point milestone at home, and Draisaitl says he'll deliver for them.
REPORTER: Do you feel like showing up in Toronto with 999 points would be the worst thing [McDavid would] ever wanna do?
DRAISAITL: Probably. I hope I'm not gonna jinx it, but I have a feeling it's not going to get to Toronto, so. Knock on wood, hopefully I'm right. I'm sure he would love to do it in front of the our fans at home. Like I said this morning, we're not talking greatness, we're talking legendary.
It's incredible to hear Draisaitl comfortable enough to practically guarantee that McDavid will get the milestone tomorrow on home ice. There's not many players you can make such a real guarantee with, but McDavid is a simply special talent.
McDavid went on a tear last night and was instrumental in getting the Oilers the win, but came just one point shy of a 5 point night to reach 1000 points - just like Wayne Gretzky did.
The Oilers have been great against the Predators this season, and tomorrow night they'll have an opportunity to make it a historic night in the NHL. Hopefully McDavid is able to grab that one point, and celebrate the accomplishments of his amazing career so far on home ice.
