Now 36 years old, Lucic signed a one year $1.5M contract to return to the Boston Bruins last year, but left the team after being arrested for a domestic violence incident after only 4 games.
Immediately after his arrest, the Boston Bruins announced that Milan Lucic had been placed on an indefinite leave, then later into the Player Assistance Program. Eventually, the charges were dropped against Lucic when his wife refused to cooperate with the investigation, but she did file for divorce, an order of protection, and requested that Lucic not get visitation rights to their children until he completes an alcohol rehabilitation program.
Now, according to an insider account on X that has correctly broken multiple stories in the past, Lucic will be held out of the league entirely this year. He would've liked to return to an NHL team, but with the arrest and his game slowing down with age, he's not gathering any interest from a team this year.
For a player that was once thought to be one of the best up and coming power forwards in the game, Lucic has seen a serious fall in his career, and now could be heading out of the league with this scandal. It's an awful situation all around, and all you can hope for is that he recognizes the fact he needs help, and works to change himself.
