Minnesota Wild coach pulls the gutsiest move possible in NHL an invokes a rare rule
In today's game with the Nashville Predators visiting the Minnesota Wild, the Wild coach John Hynes pulled one of the gutsiest moves possible in the NHL. In overtime, Minnesota pulled their goalie to play with a man advantage. This kicks into effect a rare rule, where if you pull your goaltender in overtime, you forfeit the extra point.
The Wild are desperate to make a playoff push, and this particular matchup against a divisional team in Nashville made it all the more important. Minnesota decided to risk losing the game and receiving no points and go for broke to give themselves an advantage to win the four point game.
It's an incredible sight that we likely won't see again for quite some time, or maybe now that they've had success and won the game with this tactic, they'll bring it out more often if needed.
