Today, NHL insider Frank Seravalli provided an update on Boeser's medical status. According to Seravalli, the Canucks diagnosed Boeser with a blood clot in his leg after game 6. He will be placed on blood thinners for treatment, and will likely miss the rest of the playoffs even if the Canucks advance.
It's extremely disappointing news to hear on all fronts. Boeser has been a long time fan favourite of the Canucks, and has become the team's most clutch playoff performer with 7 goals and 12 points in 12 games. In an all-important game 7 between these two rivals, every fan wants to see both teams at full health. To lose Boeser due to a serious medical condition is extremely unfortunate. Hockey fans everywhere are wishing the best for Boeser's recovery and return to play next season.
Many other NHL players have been sidelined with blood clotting issues before, most recently including Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen. Andersen was diagnosed with the issue in November of 2023 and did not make a return to play until March of 2024.
It's a massive blow to the Canucks heading into a season-deciding game 7. Tonight in Vancouver, the two Canadian rivals will square off in a must-watch battle.
