Moments ago, the NHL Alumni Association announced the passing of Sergei Berezin, a 502 game veteran of the league.

The NHL Alumni Association is heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of Sergei Berezin at the age of 52 years old.

Berezin was drafted in the 10th round, 256th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994, and eventually made the transition from Russian hockey to join the Leafs in 1996. He went on to also play for the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, and Washington Capitals, before returning home for one final season before retirement in 2004. Over 502 NHL games, Berezin scored 160 goals and 286 points.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Berezin's family in this incredibly difficult time.
